Free Cotton Face Mask Pattern

The Corona virus sure had changed our world.   About a month ago, an internet site of scientists that we read daily started talking about home sewn cotton face masks.  

We’ve studied the use of cotton cloth facemasks and have come to the conclusion that it is time for them to become a part of our every day life.   

These are not the same level of masks that are meant to protect healthcare and emergency responders, that is a much higher standard.  These are washable, reusable masks that do not seal to the face.  But even simple cloth masks can give protections.  

We did a complete review of many many patterns and decided to write our own.  Why?  First of all, there is a shortage of elastic, so a pattern that is elastic free is needed.  Second, none of the patterns had very good step by step directions.  We know how important it is to “show” all the details.

Finally, as we tried the patterns, we found that some small adjustments, like one fabric tie, made it much easier to use the mask. 

Our pattern is simple, all you need is cotton fabric and a bread twist tie.  The twist tie is actually optional, but it makes the mask fit better at your nose.
