Block and Set
Block and Set is a new modular way to do quilt projects. It consists of interchangeable block patterns and settings. There are 12 individual block patterns printed in full color on 3″ x 4″ cards in a series. There are also settings that use these block patterns.
The Block Cards and Settings are very inexpensive: only $3.99 retail for a set of 12 Block Cards and $3.99 retail for each Setting. You purchase your THANGLES separately.
You can use Block and Set in many ways. If you like a particular project shown on a setting pattern you purchase that setting pattern and the block series used for that setting. Set #5 the Half Star Twin Setting is shown above. This quilt as shown uses all of the Series #3 Block Card patterns which are shown above on the left.
To make this quilt exactly as shown, you purchase the Series #3 cards, Setting #5 and a pack of 2″ THANGLES. Please note, both the Series #3 cards and Setting #5 uses 2″ THANGLES. One pack is enough to do the entire project.
You might want to use this setting with a different set of block patterns. If you like the Series #2 Star patterns you could use those block patterns in place of the Series #3 patterns.
Maybe you just want to make blocks. You can start with a pack of Block Cards and make blocks.
We have five sets of Block Cards. All of these series are 12″ finished blocks. Series 4 and 5 have center blocks that finish 6″ and then are set into the center of a star block made with 3″ Thangles.
Series #1 Block Cards are made with 2 different fabric strips that are 4.5″ wide and 4″ THANGLES. These blocks are very fast.
All the blocks in this series are used in Setting #1, which is a twin set. You do not need to use all of the block patterns in a quilt.
In Setting #2 a second twin sized setting using 24 blocks, we used the block patterns from Series #4 Block Cards.
Series #4 Block Cards have center blocks that are made with 2 strips that are 2.5″ wide and you get two 6″ finished blocks from these strips, a positive and negative. The center block uses 2″ THANGLES. The blocks become the center of a star by using 3.5″ strips and 3″ THANGLES on the outside of the blocks.
Series #2 Block Cards are made with 3 different fabric strips
that are 3.5″ wide and 3″ THANGLES. All of the patterns in this
set are star blocks.
Series #5 Block Cards have center blocks that are made
with 2 strips that are 2″ wide and 1.5″ THANGLES. You
get two blocks from these strips, a positive and a negative. The
blocks becomes the center of a star by using 3.5″ strips and 3″
THANGLES on the outside of the blocks.
We have five different Settings. All of these settings use 12″ finished blocks. You can use any block pattern from any of Series #1-5 Block Cards with these settings.
